Preventing and treating instability is the main challenge for today’s orthopaedic surgeons. This is because dislocation of a total hip replacement is the primary reason for revision surgery in the short term. The patients concerned are also more and more active, and the medical and economic aspect imposes its own logic.

In the presence of the leading French and international specialists on the subject, LHA will make it possible to discuss the causes of instability, surgical approaches, alternative surgical procedures, and everything concerning Double Mobility, the new standard whose international development confirms the validity of Gilles Bousquet’s initial vision.

The “Lyon School of hip surgery” will thus perpetuate the tradition started with the “Journées Lyonnaises” and the Charnley symposia.

The surgical challenge is also, however, an industrial issue. In satellite symposia, our partners will explore the latest progress made in Double Mobility, and we will describe their experiences outside of France.

Finally, LHA is an opportunity to come to Lyon – the city at the confluence of two rivers, with an old town heavily influenced by Italian Renaissance culture.
